Uncertainties suffocating man's existence.
Unwilling to put aside his analytical nature,
repulsed by spontaneity.
Unable to escape the social bondage and need of the material.
Staking claims to being free and equal
when perceived realities show different.
Wanting to believe that he is unlike another,
that he no longer falls under the expectations of others,
meanwhile allowing his own expectations to hinder him.
Needing to grow beyond his fears
but not willing to sacrifice his comfort.
Challenging the authority in mind only.
Words of truth echo in his head unable to find its way
to his mouth.
Choking on the possibility that he will never be able to escape
the chains of his thoughts.
Fist high in the air, proclaiming that he is no longer willing to be subject
to society's rule,
Only to concede in his heart and fall victim to this system once more.
Telling his children to experience life and strive to be an individual,
when he has yet to embrace the same,
creating a destiny in which time will find him
frail and weak
and death,
a willing participant.
